THE PEARL REPORT: FREE TO WHEEL
In 2012, after years of campaigning in which Ajmal played a leading part, wheelchair athletes finally lined up at the start of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon. TVB Pearl’s current affairs programme The Pearl Report followed Ajmal through the build-up to race day on 5 February 2012, from training before dawn on the streets of Hong Kong to the race itself.
Hosted by Diana Lin, Free to Wheel looks at what it takes for wheelchair users to take part in sport and in everyday life in Hong Kong, from getting a taxi to riding the MTR. The programme includes interviews with Rick Hansen of the Rick Hansen Foundation, Kwan Kee of the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association and Con Conway of ASAP.
