Handcycling for a Purpose: A Meaningful Christmas Journey across Cambodia

Christmas Day 2023 was very different for Carol and I as we embarked on a unique and purposeful adventure, breaking away from the conventional holiday celebrations. Instead of the typical festive atmosphere at home, we joined a group of fellow cyclists on a wonderful journey, all in support of the Cambodia Bright Pailin School Senior High School Building Project.

Our motivation was clear – to contribute to the development of education in Cambodia. We firmly believe that every child deserves a safe and conducive learning environment.

By pedaling our way through the picturesque landscapes of Cambodia, we aimed to make a positive impact on the lives of students and pave the way for a brighter future.

Yesterday's leg of the journey took us from Siem Reap to Battambang, covering a distance of 70 kilometers. It was a day filled with both physical exertion and a deep connection with the countryside.

Cycling through rural settings and along provincial roads while hand-biking allowed me to witness a myriad of stories unfolding before my eyes. Each story, individual and personal, became a part of the collective narrative that forms the very fabric of rural life in this region.

The scenic Cambodian countryside served as a backdrop for our mission. Along the way, we made stops at schools and passed by Buddhist monasteries, each contributing to the rich tapestry of stories unfolding around us.

I invite you all to join us in this noble cause. Together, we can make a tangible difference and provide these young minds with the tools they need to thrive. Stay tuned for updates and snapshots from this incredible journey as we continue to spread the word, share the love, and make this Christmas truly special for those in need.

Let's pedal for a purpose and make this holiday season one to remember by making a positive impact on the lives of others.
